E-Book: Adventure Weddings 101

As part of a semester-long branding portfolio project for my Content Marketing class in Fall 2021, I worked as a branding consultant for a photography business called Choosing Wild. I created this 40-page e-book using content marketing, with a specific focus on inbound marketing, to create a resource that provides potential customers with information that is helpful and builds a sense of trust in the company.

This project took me approximately 80 hours to complete.

To prepare for this project, I performed extensive market research and utilized both primary and secondary sources of information. I met with the owner and extensively discussed the ins-and-outs of the business, so I would have a good starting point for such a large project. I then worked in conjunction with the owner to come up with topics and general layout for the book, and from there I wrote all of the copy, designed the pages, and implemented the new branding I had made for the company.

The objective for this e-book is to educate people on the process of starting to plan an adventure wedding or elopement. When creating the e-book, my strategy was to provide helpful and valuable information to people who are just starting to plan their wedding, which builds a sense of trust in the company by establishing them as an expert in the field. This then influences readers to learn more about the business and remember the business as they do more research and eventually choose a photographer.

Using the Brand Style Guide I created for Choosing Wild (as part of this same semester-long branding portfolio project), I…

  • Vastly improved my graphic design skills with Adobe InDesign. I had some previous experience with InDesign, but this project gave me a very good working knowledge of it to use in my career going forward.

    • Learned how to format text

    • Learned how to import and format pictures

    • Learned InDesign keyboard shortcuts (on Mac)

  • Planned out content based on inbound marketing methods, with a goal of educating readers with quality information so they’ll view my company as an authority and seek out more info on my site

  • Wrote 40 pages of unique, highly informative copy

  • Went through photos and selected 100+ photos to use in the e-book

  • Re-exported all of those photos from Adobe Lightroom to ensure every photo in the e-book is the best possible quality for a PDF

  • Using Adobe InDesign, I created the e-book layout, inserted copy and photos, adjusted locations of text boxes and photos, changed fonts and colors, etc.
